EU expresses concern over Chinese pork tariffs
The European Commission on Tuesday expressed concern about China’s recently announced tariffs on EU pork imports, adding that the Chinese investigation is based on “questionable claims and insufficient evidence,” Reuters reported.
“The Commission is examining the announced provisional final duties and is carefully assessing all available information against WTO rules,” the Commission also said in a statement.
China will impose duties of between 4.9% and 19.8% on pork imports from the bloc for a five-year period, starting Wednesday, lower than the 15.6% to 62.4% imposed in a preliminary decision in September.
