Brazil’s production of major agricultural crops in the 2025/26 MY could reach 361.7 mln tons, up 2.6% year on year, according to Conab. The planted area increased by 1.7% to 83.5 mln ha.

Soybean production is forecast at a record 180.4 mln tons, up 5.2% y/y. Soybean area expanded by 2.7%, while yields increased by 2.5%. Soybean exports are also expected to set a record at 116.2 mln tons.

Corn production is estimated at 144 mln tons, up 2% from the previous season. The second corn crop is projected at 112.1 mln tons, only 1% below the previous record, while first-crop corn yields rose by 8.8% to a record 7.19 t/ha.

At the same time, Brazil’s wheat production could decline by 27% to 5.74 mln tons. The drop is mainly due to a 21% reduction in planted area and a 7.5% decline in average yields to 2.98 t/ha.

With domestic wheat supply declining, imports are forecast at 7.06 mln tons. Rice production is also expected to fall by 13% to 11.08 mln tons due to a 14% reduction in planted area.
