Maersk raises container rail rates between Ukraine and Constanța

Maersk has raised rail container rates between the Romanian port of Constanța and Ukrainian terminals in Ternopil and Odesa. The updated rates will remain in effect through October 31, 2026.

Export shipments via Ternopil saw the largest increase. Rates for both 20-foot and 40-foot containers rose from $1,400 to $2,200, or by 57%. Import rates through the terminal increased to $2,600 for a 20-foot container and $2,800 for a 40-foot container.

On the route via Odesa, export rates for both container types increased by 25%, from $2,000 to $2,500. Import rates rose by 30% to $2,600 for a 20-foot container and by 40% to $2,800 for a 40-foot container.

WCT operates the service between Constanța and Ternopil, while UGL operates the route between Constanța and Odesa. T1 transit declaration processing is included in the transport price.

Maersk said the service is temporary and will remain in place until the situation in the region stabilizes.
