Algeria buys 500 thsd tons of wheat in tender

Algeria’s state grain agency OAIC purchased around 500–510 thsd tons of milling wheat in an international tender that closed on September 15, although the tender had initially been announced for 50 thsd tons. According to preliminary estimates, prices were around $319–321/t C&F.

Sellers included Bunge, Olam, LDC, Cargill, Aston, Amber, Buildcom, Casillo and Nibulon.

Shipment is scheduled in two periods — November 1–15 and November 16–30. For comparison, in its previous tender on August 5, Algeria bought up to 720 thsd tons of wheat at around $289–290/t C&F.
