Egypt has purchased large volumes of vegetable oil and wheat
Egypt’s state agency Mostakbal Misr told Reuters on Monday it had purchased six shipments of vegetable oil totaling more than 74,000 tonnes from Black Sea countries including Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria and Romania.
The agency also said it had reached agreements with international suppliers to buy more than 600,000 tonnes of wheat, mostly from Black Sea countries and France, for delivery in September and October.
The agency did not provide specific delivery dates, suppliers or prices.
Egypt is one of the world’s largest wheat importers. On average, it buys more than 12 million tonnes of wheat abroad each year, including about 5 million tonnes through the state sector.
