Daily unloading of grain wagons in the ports of Greater Odesa increased almost 6 times over the week
The volume of daily unloading of grain wagons in the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk increased 5.8 times over the past week. This information was announced on May 29 by Valeriy Tkachev, deputy director of the commercial department of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC.
Ukrzaliznytsia reported a significant improvement in the daily unloading of grain wagons in the ports of Greater Odesa: their number increased from 92 to 535 wagons per day. This is a 5.8-fold increase.
Over the past day, 535 railcars with grain were unloaded at the ports. The average daily unloading in May increased to 226 railcars with grain.
Also, the number of grain wagons moving towards the ports of Greater Odesa increased by 2.5 times over the past week, from 962 to 2,413 units. With these volumes, the waiting time for unloading (queue) is 4.5 days.
In addition, the representative of UZ spoke about the work of the “grain corridor” in the period of May 19-28. In particular,
- 23 vessels were inspected (12 vessels in the port of Odesa and 11 vessels in the port of Chornomorsk);
- four vessels are in the inspection area (one – Odesa, three – Chornomorsk);
- five vessels are registered for inspection (four – Chornomorsk, one – Odesa);
- 49 vessels are awaiting inspection (11 – Odesa; 22 – Chornomorsk; 16 – Pivdennyi).
“Unfortunately, Ukraine’s largest port, Pivdennyi, remains blocked,” says Valeriy Tkachev.
The situation in the port of Izmail remains difficult. As of May 29, 2,164 railcars with grain were moving to the port. At the same time, unloading has decreased due to bad weather conditions. Thus, 68 railcars with grain were unloaded in the port over the past day. With these volumes, the queue reaches 31.8 days.
