Cuba receives first shipment of rice from China
Cuba has received the first batch of food aid from China, 15,000 tons of rice, which arrived at the port of Havana. This is the beginning of a broader program of supplies totaling about 60,000 tons as part of emergency food support.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said that this cargo is an important manifestation of friendship and cooperation between countries that are strengthening in difficult times for the country. According to him, the aid will be distributed to all regions, as well as directed to medical and educational institutions.
The Chinese side emphasized that the supply is part of the support package for Cuba and an example of mutual assistance in a difficult international situation. The Chinese ambassador to Havana stated his intention to further develop practical cooperation and support the sovereignty and development of Cuba.
After the successful US operation to capture and remove Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, the Cuban government lost a major ally and oil supplier. The Cuban government has found itself in the deepest economic and humanitarian crisis, and is also forced to respond to diplomatic and military pressure from the United States.
