Coffee production in Colombia fell by 23% due to weather-related issues.
Colombia’s coffee production fell 23% year-on-year in July 2026 to 1.06 mln 60-kg bags. The country produced 1.37 mln bags in July 2025 and 1.3 mln bags in June this year, according to the National Federation of Coffee Growers.
The sharp decline was attributed to adverse weather conditions that delayed the harvest. Colombia is the world’s third-largest coffee producer after Brazil and Vietnam and the leading global supplier of washed arabica coffee.
Lower production also affected overseas shipments. Colombia exported 992 thsd bags of coffee in July, down 15% from 1.17 mln bags in the same month last year.
The downward trend is also evident over a longer period. Coffee production totaled 6.6 mln bags in January–July, compared with 7.6 mln bags a year earlier. Over the past 12 months, production declined 13% to 12.7 mln bags, while exports fell 10% to 11.8 mln bags.
Colombia has around 840 thsd ha of coffee plantations, with annual production capacity estimated at about 14 mln bags. The current decline in output and exports is reducing supplies from one of the world’s key sources of high-quality arabica coffee.
