Ukraine’s Chornomorsk port has significantly reduced grain intake following intensified Russian attacks on port infrastructure. At the same time, the country’s other seaports continue to operate normally. The update was provided by Valerii Tkachov, Deputy Director of the Transportation Technology and Commercial Operations Department at Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia), during an online meeting with market participants on July 16.

According to Tkachov, Russia has been systematically targeting Ukraine’s grain port infrastructure over the past two weeks.

A representative of the Transport Service Center (TSC) said that Chornomorsk port suffered the greatest damage from the attacks and is currently operating only partially.

“The remaining ports continue to operate normally without major issues. However, around-the-clock air raid alerts, missile strikes, and drone attacks have been disrupting operations for the sixth consecutive day,” the TSC representative said.

Tkachov also noted that Ukrainian Railways has recorded a daily decline in grain loading volumes over the past week. He attributed this to both the security situation at Chornomorsk port and weaker market activity, as traders remain cautious while farmers are holding grain in anticipation of higher prices.

As of July 16, daily grain loading stood at 50,000-60,000 tons. Since the beginning of July, the average daily loading volume has reached 61,100 tons, nearly 28% lower than the average recorded in June.
