Ukraine extends payment settlement deadline for agricultural exports to 150 days

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has temporarily extended the maximum settlement period for exports of certain agricultural products from 120 to 150 days. The decision takes effect on August 26, 2026, and was adopted at the proposal of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The new rules will apply to export transactions carried out from July 1, 2026, through August 31, 2027. They cover grains and oilseeds, vegetable oils, as well as processed products derived from them.

The NBU explained that the extension was necessary due to worsening maritime logistics following intensified Russian attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure and civilian vessels in July. Restrictions on seaborne exports have forced agricultural cargoes to be redirected to alternative routes, significantly increasing delivery and settlement times.

According to the regulator, the existing 120-day period has become insufficient to complete some export transactions under the new logistics conditions. Extending it to 150 days should reduce the risk of exporters violating foreign exchange regulations and facilitate operations amid longer supply routes.

The NBU expects the measure to help preserve the export potential of Ukraine’s agricultural sector and enable it to adapt to more challenging logistics without creating additional risks to macrofinancial stability. The changes were approved by NBU Board Resolution No. 97 dated August 25, 2026.
