China has agreed on the terms of import of Ukrainian peas

Ukraine may soon start exporting peas to China. Last week, the Chinese side signed a phytosanitary protocol, and it is already being processed by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
This was stated by Antonina Skliarenko, President of the Community Of Pulse Producers And Customers Of Ukraine, at the Agro Ukraine Summit.
According to her, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the Community have been working on this issue for 3 years.
“We hope that this will be an impetus for our agricultural producers to grow peas and increase the sown areas,” Skliarenko added.
In 2023, the gross harvest of peas in Ukraine amounted to 399.5 thsd tonnes, up 48% year-on-year (269 thsd tonnes).
According to the National Research Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”, China’s share in Ukrainian exports of agri-food amounted to 10% last year.
