Canada sharply raises rapeseed ending stocks forecast
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada raised its forecast for 2026/27 rapeseed ending stocks to 1.979 mln tons, up from 1.504 mln tons in its August estimate. The forecast was therefore increased by almost 0.5 mln tons.
The estimate for the previous season’s ending stocks was also revised higher by 175 thsd tons to 1.90 mln tons.
Higher stock forecasts in Canada, one of the world’s largest rapeseed exporters, reinforce expectations of ample global supply and add further pressure on rapeseed prices.
A larger supply of raw material also weakens cost support for rapeseed oil. At the same time, expectations of higher crushing volumes could increase rapeseed meal supplies.
As a result, the market expects pressure to remain not only on rapeseed but also on its processed products — rapeseed oil and meal — if the higher stock levels are confirmed during the season.
