China accounted for nearly 39% of weekly sales of new crop US soybeans

The United States recorded high export sales of new-crop soybeans. According to USDA FAS, soybean sales for the MY 2026/27 reached 1.33 million metric tons for the week ending July 23, 2026.

China was the largest buyer, contracting 519,000 metric tons, accounting for nearly 39% of total weekly sales. Another 372,000 metric tons were sold to unconfirmed destinations. Other major buyers included Mexico (309,300 metric tons), Algeria (44,000 metric tons), and Japan (30,100 metric tons).

Additionally, the USDA, through its daily reporting system, reported new deals for the supply of 264,000 metric tons of soybeans to China and 236,000 metric tons to unconfirmed destinations. Both contracts relate to deliveries in the 2026/27 marketing year.

Sales of old-crop soybeans for the 2025/26 totaled 302,300 tonnes during the reporting week, significantly exceeding the previous week’s figures and the average for the past four weeks.

Actual shipments of US soybeans also showed strong growth. Exports for the week reached 490,300 tonnes, up 64% from the previous week and 14% above the average for the past four weeks.
