Canada’s grain exports up 29%
For thirteen weeks of the current season Canada exported 14.3 million tons of grains, legumes and oilseeds, which is 29% more than for the same period last season. This is reported by Grain On-Line agency with reference to the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC).
The volume of soft wheat exports amounted to 5.5 million tons (-1% compared to the same period last season), durum wheat – 1.0 million tons (+43%), barley – 0.7 million tons (+11%), peas – 1.1 million tons (+55%), soybeans – 1.5 million tons (+71%), canola – 3.4 million tons (+204%).
According to the forecast of the US Department of Agriculture, in the current season Canada can increase exports of soft and durum wheat to 26.0 million tons (+2%) due to the increase in harvest from 32.946 million tons to 35.0 million tons.
