Canada’s 2026/27 canola production forecast has been increased
According to updated supply and demand estimates released by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada on July 20, production forecasts for most crops in 2026/27 are higher than previously estimated.
These changes follow Statistics Canada’s June 30 release of its acreage report, as well as Canada’s first crop yield forecast for 2026.
Due to record canola acreage and above-average yield expectations, canola production for 2026/27 was increased to 21 million tonnes from the 19.2 million tonnes reported in the June report.
Exports for 2026/27 were increased by 500,000 tonnes to 8 million tonnes. For 2025/26, they were further increased by 100,000 tonnes to 8.5 million tonnes.
In the June AAFC report, projected rapeseed ending stocks for 2026-27 increased to 2.07 million tonnes from 1.31 million tonnes. The forecast for remaining rapeseed stocks for 2025-26 remained relatively stable at 2.7 million tonnes.
Domestic consumption in 2026/27 increased to 13.75 million tonnes from 13.2 million tonnes, and remained at 12.3 million tonnes in 2025-26.
