Wholesale prices for white cabbage in Poland continue to decline despite lower domestic production and limited supplies in several Western European countries. According to EastFruit, prices in Polish wholesale markets have recently fallen by approximately 6.3% to PLN 0.60–0.90/kg, compared with the previous range of PLN 0.60–1.00/kg. Weak demand remains the main factor putting pressure on prices.

According to the latest forecast from Statistics Poland (GUS), the country’s total production of all cabbage varieties in 2026 is expected to reach around 533 thsd tons. This is 70 thsd tons, or nearly 12%, below last year’s level. Meanwhile, cabbage production is also declining in other European countries due to drought and periods of extreme heat. In Germany, for example, the harvest could be 15% lower than a year earlier.

Despite reduced supplies, current cabbage prices in Poland remain significantly below previous years’ levels. For comparison, in mid-October 2024, average wholesale cabbage prices stood at PLN 1.25–1.35/kg, even though the country’s total harvest reached 571 thsd tons. Currently, cabbage prices are almost 40% lower than during the same period in 2024.

According to analysts, current prices are in line with the average level of the past ten seasons but remain approximately 18% below the five-year average. Thus, even a substantial decline in production has so far failed to support prices in the Polish market.

Weak demand continues to limit cabbage price increases despite smaller harvests in Poland and other European countries. As a result, local producers are being forced to sell their products at prices below expectations amid a weaker production outlook.
