Bulgaria attracts investors to Danube industrial park with port access
The Bulgarian municipality of Svishtov has attracted the first potential investors to the Danube Industrial Technology Park located directly on the river. The municipality has already signed three preliminary agreements with future investors, while the companies’ names are expected to be announced later.
The park is located in Svishtov’s eastern industrial zone and covers around 300 thsd sq m. The site is divided into 21 investment plots, with direct access to Danube port infrastructure among its key advantages.
An additional logistical advantage is the Svishtov–Zimnicea ferry link, which provides direct access to Romania. Engineering infrastructure needed for future manufacturing and logistics projects is also being developed at the site.
The Institute for Danube Studies said the “industrial park + port + cross-border logistics” model can combine production, transshipment and exports within a single economic hub. Access to electricity, gas, water, roads and neighboring markets is also expected to improve the site’s attractiveness to investors.
The development of this model is expected to increase added value in the Danube region and strengthen the river’s role not only as a transport corridor, but also as a base for new industrial and logistics clusters.
