Brazil’s soybean production may reach 180 mln tons

Brazil’s soybean production in the 2025/26 marketing year may rise to 180.4 million tonnes, according to an updated forecast by consulting firm AgRural. The new estimate exceeds both the November projection of 178.5 million tonnes and last season’s harvest of 171.5 million tonnes.

AgRural analysts note that weather conditions across Brazil were generally favorable in December, supporting crop development. However, yield prospects remain uncertain across large parts of the planted area, leaving the final outcome highly dependent on upcoming weather patterns.

According to the consultancy, the size of the soybean crop will largely hinge on weather conditions in January and February, and in some later-harvest regions also during the first half of March. These months will be critical in determining whether Brazil can realize its record production potential.

Harvesting of the new soybean crop has already begun in some areas of Paraná and Mato Grosso. While fieldwork is expected to continue in the coming days, more significant progress is anticipated mainly in January, provided weather conditions remain favorable.
