Brazil’s share in soybean meal exports to the EU exceeded 50%
As of March 29, the European Union imported 6.78 million tons of soybean meal from Brazil since the beginning of the year, down 3.9% from the previous year. However, its share increased from 49.8% last year to 50.5%, according to European Commission data.
The country is actively increasing its exports of both soybeans and processed products. According to a report from the Foreign Agricultural Information Service of the United States Department of Agriculture (FAS USDA), soybean production is estimated at 184 million tons, 3.3% higher than the projected 178 million tons for 2025-2026.
The soybean crop area will reach 50.5 million hectares in 2026-2027, which is 2.8% more than last year, and the yield will increase by 1% to 3.64 tons per hectare compared to last season, but will be almost 6% higher than the average yield recorded over the past five years.
