Armenia imposes temporary ban on grain exports
Armenia is introducing a temporary ban on the export of grain (wheat, barley, corn), as well as sunflower oil. The decision was made at a government meeting on Thursday.
As noted by the Cabinet, the measure is aimed at strengthening the country’s food security.
The authorities emphasize that Armenia covers a significant part of the consumption of these products through imports – about two-thirds of wheat and 100% of sunflower oil are imported into the country, mainly from Russia.
The ban is set for a period of six months in accordance with the rules in force within the Eurasian Economic Union.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
