Argentina will resume exports of fresh poultry meat and poultry products to the European Union on August 17, 2026, following the lifting of restrictions imposed after an avian influenza outbreak, Top Agrar reports.

The European Commission has reinstated Argentina on the list of countries authorized to export poultry products to the EU. The decision followed the country’s recovery of its status as free from highly pathogenic avian influenza.

Exports were suspended after an outbreak was detected at a commercial poultry farm in Buenos Aires Province in February 2026. In the absence of a regionalization agreement, the EU temporarily banned imports from the entire territory of Argentina.

The European Union remains one of the key export markets for Argentine poultry products. The main buyers include the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany. In 2025, Argentina exported more than $14 million worth of poultry products to the EU, up 32% from a year earlier. The resumption of shipments is expected to increase competition in the European poultry market.
