Wheat and rapeseed production in Poland will receive support through a new partnership between ADM, PepsiCo and Mars, aimed at implementing regenerative agriculture practices. According to a September 10 announcement, the program will cover 24 farms across 5,454 hectares.

Mars will focus on regenerative wheat cultivation on 3,359 hectares for its pet food brands (Whiskas, Pedigree), while PepsiCo will support sustainable rapeseed production on 2,160 hectares for its Lay’s and Doritos brands. Unlike standalone initiatives, the project in western Poland takes a holistic approach, targeting soil health, water management, and long-term agricultural resilience. PepsiCo and Mars will work with the same farmers to integrate regenerative practices into crop rotations, alternating cereals, legumes and cover crops to restore soil fertility, break pest and disease cycles, and improve soil structure.

ADM will act as the key implementation partner, providing financial and technical support. The company emphasized that the project will generate data and expertise to scale regenerative practices across Poland’s agricultural system. Farmers will gain access to advanced agri-technologies, training and consulting, including support from Biospheres. Practices include reduced tillage, cover crops, and lowering dependence on synthetic fertilizers. Farms adopting specific measures will receive financial incentives to speed adaptation to climate risks and boost carbon sequestration.

Poland is seen as an important regional benchmark for regenerative agriculture, as the maturity of sustainable practices varies widely. The project will use the Cool Farm Tool (CFT) sustainability calculator to measure greenhouse gas emissions and the effectiveness of solutions, with the resulting data helping to expand practices into other countries.

Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
