Winter wheat crops in the US are in record-low condition
Last week, winter wheat crop conditions in the US deteriorated again, reaching the worst level since records began in 1986, according to Zerno On-line, citing the US Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
The share of winter wheat crops in excellent and good condition decreased over the week from 27% to 26%. A year ago, 50% of the crops were in excellent and good condition.
Spring planting continues to be faster than average. By May 24, US farmers had planted 79% of their planned soybean acreage (75% on the same date last year and 68% on average over the past five years). Corn has been planted at 86% of the planned acreage (86% and 83%, respectively), and spring wheat at 86% (86% and 79%).
