Wheat production has decreased in Georgia
Wheat production in Georgia decreased by 3.6% in 2025, according to data from the National Statistics Service (Sakstat).
According to the agency, the country produced 143,700 tons of wheat last year.
The wheat sown area in Georgia last year was 49,400 hectares, an 8.5% decrease compared to the 2024 target. The average grain yield was 2.9 tons per hectare, the same as in 2024.
Georgia consumes 700,000-800,000 tons of wheat annually. In recent years, the country has purchased wheat from Kazakhstan, Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, with the latter accounting for over 95% of its wheat consumption due to its favorable price.
