Wheat, corn and soybeans rise in Chicago on Tuesday
Wheat, corn and soybean futures on the CBOT in Chicago closed higher on Tuesday, September 15. December wheat rose 0.9% to $267.67/t, corn gained 0.47% to $210.93/t, while November soybeans increased 1.11% to $484.55/t.
Wheat was supported by strong import demand and a lower crop forecast in France. Algeria purchased around 500 thsd tons of milling wheat in a tender at approximately $319–321/t C&F, while the French agriculture ministry cut its 2026 wheat production estimate by 0.2 mln tons to 31.7 mln tons.
Corn futures in Chicago also edged higher on expectations that rainfall could slow the US harvest across parts of the Midwest. Meanwhile, CONAB raised its estimate for Brazil’s 2025/26 corn crop to 144 mln tons and issued an initial 2026/27 production forecast of 148 mln tons.
Soybean futures posted stronger gains as forecast rains could disrupt harvesting in the US. The November contract rose to $13.18¾/bu, while January soybeans reached $13.35¼/bu. CONAB estimates Brazil’s 2025/26 soybean crop at 180.4 mln tons, with its first 2026/27 forecast at 181.64 mln tons.
On Euronext MATIF in Paris, December milling wheat settled at €241/t, while March wheat reached €243/t. November corn declined to €262/t, while the March contract remained near the same level.
