Wheat, corn and soybeans rise in Chicago on Monday
Chicago futures for major grains and oilseeds rose on Monday, September 21. December wheat gained 1.75% to $267.03/t, corn rose 2.94% to $213.78/t, while November soybeans increased 1.88% to $487.95/t.
Wheat was supported by expectations ahead of the US-China leaders’ meeting this week, as well as continued risks to Black Sea supplies. Additional support came from importer activity, with Pakistan buying 365 thsd tons of wheat and announcing a new tender for 185 thsd tons.
Corn posted the strongest gain among the main contracts amid expectations of a possible recovery in Chinese demand. US corn export inspections reached 1.94 mln tons for the week, while shipments since the start of 2026/27 MY totaled 4.14 mln tons, up 15.9% year on year.
Soybeans also strengthened ahead of US-China talks. The US exported 759.2 thsd tons of soybeans during the week, including 446.8 thsd tons to China. Since the start of the season, US soybean exports have reached 36.85 mln tons, 1.8% above last year.
European grain markets also ended the day higher. On MATIF, December wheat rose 0.92% to €243.75/t, while November corn gained 1.79% to €268.75/t.
