Wheat and corn prices fell on the MATIF exchange on Monday

On Monday, May 25, 2026, U.S. exchanges were closed for Memorial Day. Tuesday’s trading session will open as usual.

The French wheat market declined on Monday, with no trading in Chicago. By the end of the trading day, September milling wheat prices on the Paris MATIF exchange fell to -€212.50 per ton (equivalent to $246.56), while December futures fell to -€220.75 per ton (equivalent to $256.14). June corn prices fell to -€219.25 per ton (equivalent to $254.40), while August corn prices fell to -€222.00 per ton (equivalent to $257.59).

According to estimates from the agricultural agency FranceAgriMer, the condition of grain crops in France remained stable over the past week and exceeded the previous year’s figures. As of May 18, 80% of the country’s soft wheat crop was in good or excellent condition, consistent with the previous week and up from 71% a year ago.

By May 18, 96% of the planned corn area had been sown in France, compared to 95% the previous week and 94% a year earlier. Ninety percent of the corn crop is in good or excellent condition, up from 87% last year.

Hot weather is expected in France this week, which could negatively impact crop sowing.

On the Paris Exchange (MATIF), the closing prices for June and September contracts on Monday were:

milling wheat (May 2026) – $246.56/t, down 1.34%;
corn (June 2026) – $254.40/t, down 1.19%;
sunflower seed (SAFEX, July – $8,682/t, down 1.07%;
sunflower oil (Rotterdam, 19.05.2026, bulk FOB) – $1,495.00/t.
