Vietnam’s sugar industry has become the region’s leader in sugar production for the first time
According to the Vietnam Sugar Cane and Sugar Producers Association (VSSA), the Vietnamese sugar industry has become the region’s leader in sugar production for the first time.

Thanks to the promotion of mechanization of production, such as land preparation, harvesting, pesticide spraying, technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) in agriculture, as well as the application of trade protection measures, the sugar industry has recorded significant development, the report says.
In the MY 2023/24 season, Vietnam’s sugar yield reached 6.79 t/ha, which is higher than other key producers in the region, such as Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Innovations have increased sugar production across the country for the past four consecutive years, with sugarcane production up 166% and sugar production up 161%.
