More than 70 American biofuel and agricultural organizations have urged the US Congress to quickly pass legislation that would allow year-round sales of E15 fuel across the country.

This is reported by RFA.

This is a gasoline blend with 15% ethanol, which, according to industry estimates, can reduce prices for consumers by 10-30 cents per gallon and at the same time support farmers’ incomes.

In an appeal to the leadership of Congress, agricultural associations emphasized that the US Department of Agriculture predicts a record corn harvest in 2025 – 16.8 billion bushels, which is about 13% more than in 2024. Against the background of increasing supply, this increases pressure on prices and profitability for producers.

According to the authors of the letter, expanding access to E15 is one of the fastest tools for generating additional domestic demand for corn and sorghum. A full-scale introduction of year-round E15 could create demand for billions of bushels of grain, stabilize the market and support farmers.

The letter was initiated by the Renewable Fuels Association, the American Farm Bureau Federation, Growth Energy and the National Corn Growers Association. The organizations note that currently, E15 sales during the summer season are possible only thanks to temporary emergency permits, which creates uncertainty for investors, retailers and consumers.

The agricultural associations urged Congress to pass a permanent resolution this year, emphasizing that farmers cannot afford another season of price volatility amid a record harvest.
