Russia said that Ukraine attacked a ship with wheat that sank in the Sea of Azov
Russia has said that the dry cargo ship Volgo-Balt with a cargo of wheat, which sank in the Sea of Azov off the coast of the Kherson region, was attacked by a Ukrainian drone. This was reported by the Russian-appointed “governor” of the occupied part of the region, Vladimir Saldo, according to the Russian “Interfax”.
According to him, the ship was attacked on April 3, after which it crashed and sank. He called the incident a “terrorist attack by the Kiev regime”.
Saldo also claims that the crew abandoned the ship, but contact with the sailors was established only later – they allegedly reached the shore near the village of Strilkove.
According to preliminary data from the Russian side, the senior mate died, two more crew members are considered missing. The captain was hospitalized, and other sailors are being provided with assistance.
Saldo previously reported on the sinking of the Volgo-Balt vessel, which was transporting wheat.
