US corn exports continue to rise, while soybean shipments decline

US corn export inspections increased to 1.496 mln tons in the week ended August 27, according to USDA FGIS data. This was up 13.1% from the previous week and 6.1% above the level recorded during the same week last year.

Since the beginning of the 2025/26 marketing year on September 1, 2025, US corn export inspections have reached 83.8 mln tons, up 25.1% from the previous season. The largest destinations last week were Mexico with 510.5 thsd tons, South Korea with 264.5 thsd tons and Japan with 173.1 thsd tons.

Meanwhile, US soybean exports showed the opposite trend. Weekly export inspections fell to 250.8 thsd tons, down 41.7% from the previous week and 49% from the same period last year.

Since the start of the 2025/26 marketing year, US soybean export inspections have totaled 40.7 mln tons, down 18.2% from the previous season. Thus, toward the end of the season, the gap between the performance of US corn and soybean exports continues to widen.

Around 60% of weekly soybean shipments, or 150.6 thsd tons, moved through Mississippi River ports. The main destinations included Algeria with 43.3 thsd tons, Egypt with 42.4 thsd tons and Italy with 42 thsd tons.
