US agricultural groups receive funding to boost exports
In the United States, a number of agricultural trade groups, cooperatives, and non-profit organizations have received funding under export support programs from the United States Department of Agriculture. The funding is provided through the Market Access Program (MAP) and the Foreign Market Development (FMD) program, administered by the Foreign Agricultural Service.
These programs are long-standing cost-share mechanisms that help producers strengthen their competitive position in global markets. In fiscal year 2026, more than $181 million will be allocated through MAP to 68 organizations promoting agricultural products — from fruits and nuts to processed goods and bulk commodities.
In addition, over $31 million will be distributed among 18 industry organizations under the FMD program, which focuses on long-term market development and generic commodity promotion rather than individual brands.
Among the largest recipients are US Wheat Associates (over $9.4 million) and the US Grains & BioProducts Council ($12.5 million), which will use the funds to expand the global presence of US grains and value-added products.
Another $16.8 million will go to soybean sector organizations, including the American Soybean Association, the US Soybean Export Council, and the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health. The funding will support market access, technical assistance, and demand creation. Additional recipients include the USA Rice Federation / US Rice Producers Association ($5.05 million) and the North American Export Grain Association ($275,000).
