Unilever has imposed a three-month hiring freeze due to the war in Iran
Multinational company Unilever has suspended hiring for at least three months due to business challenges arising from the war in Iran, Reuters reported, citing a company memorandum.
The publication, citing Fabian Garcia, head of Unilever’s personal care division, reports that macroeconomic and geopolitical realities pose significant challenges over the next few months.
The hiring freeze is part of an existing cost-cutting program, launched in 2024. The company intends to save approximately €800 million over three years. Unilever currently employs 96,000 people.
Earlier, the International Monetary Fund warned of a possible rise in global food prices due to the war in Iran. Countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America are facing additional strain amid rising food and fertilizer prices, as well as tightening financial conditions.
