Moldova and Romania have reached an agreement to expand grain transit options across their shared border, including shipments of Ukrainian-origin grain. Under the agreement, grain transportation will also be permitted through the Costești–Stânca border crossing. The additional route is expected to ease congestion at other border checkpoints and accelerate agricultural cargo transportation.

The agreement was reached during discussions between representatives of Moldova’s National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) and Romania’s National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA). The two sides discussed measures to facilitate grain transit across the Moldovan–Romanian border, including Ukrainian agricultural products transported through Moldova.

The Romanian side confirmed its willingness to facilitate grain movements not only through Costești–Stânca but also through other existing border crossings. The additional route is expected to distribute transport flows more evenly, reduce pressure on the busiest checkpoints and improve logistics conditions for carriers and grain traders.

For Ukrainian exporters, the agreement provides additional opportunities for overland transit through Moldova to Romania. Expanding the number of available border crossings is particularly important amid ongoing logistics constraints and the need to diversify export routes.
