Ukraine. Winter crops continue spring growth
Winter crops are rated good and fair. They started spring growth on March 13-16 in the southern regions, on April 1-2 in the west, on March 26-31 in the rest of the country. Due to sharply rising spring temperatures, the time span between the onset of soil readiness and the optimal period for planting early spring crops has been decreasing in recent years.
Under current weather conditions, planting needs to be begun as soon as physically possible and completed within 5-7 days. Early planting contributes to moisture efficiency, increases germination capacity of seeds, and improves growth and development of plants, UkrAgroConsult reports.
Weather forecast for April 6-11:
– Precipitation (5-35 mm) is expected in the central, western, northern and southern regions. The eastern regions will receive 5-15 mm;
– Air temperature will be +5 … +7°C in the daytime, 0 … +2°C at night in the West; +6 … +8°C in the daytime, +1 … +3°C at night in the North; +8 … +10°C in the daytime, +1 … +3°C at night in the central regions; +14 … +16°C in the daytime, +4 … +6°C at night in the East; +10 … +12°C in the daytime, +2 … +4°C at night in the South.
