Ukraine will reduce production of sunflower oil and meal – USDA
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) expects the decline of sunseed production in Ukraine in 2024/25 MY.
This is evidenced by the data in the USDA report for August.
Thus, the sunseed harvest is forecasted at 13.5 mln tonnes, down 1 mln tonnes from the July estimate. Experts lowered the forecast of oilseed exports to 230 thsd tonnes (-30 thsd tonnes).
According to the experts, in 2024/25 MY Ukraine will produce 5.656 mln tonnes of sunflower oil (-408 thsd tonnes), of which 5.225 mln tonnes (-405 thsd tonnes) will be exported.
The production of the meal will amount to 5.431 mln tonnes (-392 thsd tonnes), while exports are forecast at 4.225 mln tonnes (-200 thsd tonnes).
Experts forecast the global sunseed harvest at 52.541 mln tonnes (-2.275 mln tonnes compared to the previous month’s forecast), oil production – 20.579 mln tonnes (-914 thsd tonnes), sunflower meal – 21.77 mln tonnes (-3 thsd tonnes).
