Ukraine will manage to export 600 thsd tons of barley at a favorable price
Barley exports from Ukraine this season are ahead of last year’s figures due to the fact that in the first two months China was present on the market and purchased large enough volumes of Ukrainian barley.
This was stated by Maksym Kharchenko, grain market analyst at UkrAgroConsult, during the All-Ukrainian practical forum “Agronomy Day”.
“In September, China stopped purchases as it harvested a good grain crop, so local traders focused on purchasing grain within the country. That is why barley exports from Ukraine switched to other countries, our traditional markets – Spain and Jordan,” said Mr. Kharchenko.
Ukraine has about 600 thsd tonnes of barley to export by the end of the season, and the current pace should be enough to do so at a favorable price.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
