Ukraine will export the harvest of the current marketing year by the end of May
In mid- or late May, the entire crop of the current marketing year and the remnants of the previous year will be exported. Consequently, prices for terminal services will decrease. This opinion was expressed by Yuriy Vaskov, Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
According to him, since mid-September 2023, there has been a model of export routes that has been operating relatively steadily.
“We cannot reach the pre-war level of exports because we do not have the production that we had in the pre-war period. Ukraine has many destroyed enterprises and occupied territories, or those located in dangerous regions. But today, we have reached 75% of the pre-war trade turnover via sea routes,” said Yuriy Vaskov.
He added that several insurance mechanisms are currently in place: compensation from the state budget in case of ship damage and an insurance mechanism that was created as a result of agreements with the British government and a pool of insurance companies. This type of insurance will soon be extended to container transportation.
