Ukraine resumes sunseed exports to Egypt after several years
Ukraine shipped 5.5 thsd tons of sunseed to Egypt in October 2026, marking the first significant shipment to this destination since at least the MY 2020/21, according to ASAP Agri. The resumption of exports to Egypt came amid a broader recovery in Ukrainian sunseed shipments, which reached 56 thsd tons during October 1–28.
Turkey remained the largest buyer of Ukrainian sunseed, importing 23 thsd tons during this period. Italy ranked second among the main destinations, with shipments totaling 12 thsd tons. Meanwhile, exports to Bulgaria by road remained limited at less than 3 thsd tons.
October sunseed export volumes were generally in line with previous market expectations. Egypt’s emergence among buyers indicates a diversification of export destinations for Ukrainian oilseeds, although the bulk of shipments remains concentrated in traditional markets.
