The establishment of agri-food hubs is emerging as a new format of international cooperation in the field of food security. Ukraine is proposing the development of such hubs as part of its broader efforts to strengthen global food supply chains.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

During a working visit to the United Arab Emirates, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Denys Bashlyk met with Khaled Al Attar, Chief Executive Officer of the DIHAD Sustainable Organisation.

The discussions focused in particular on strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors at both B2B and B2G levels, as well as on building partnerships between research and scientific institutions. Practical steps outlined include the organization of a Ukrainian pavilion at the DIHAD exhibition in the UAE and the hosting of a тематичний roundtable dedicated to issues of humanitarian food assistance.

Denys Bashlyk emphasized that food security and the development of food hubs, particularly in the Middle East, could become a new strategic area of cooperation.

“Ukraine is already actively working to expand the Food from Ukraine initiative, specifically through the creation of food hubs in African countries. This is not merely about exports — it is about building local infrastructure for the storage, processing and distribution of food. We aim to scale up this approach. Together, we can create a network of modern food hubs that will ensure stable food supplies to regions most in need, including the Middle East. This is a contribution to global food security and stability,” the deputy minister said.

He also noted that the development of such cooperation will contribute to the formation of a new, innovative agri-ecosystem and to the deepening of economic and investment ties between countries. Through joint efforts, an effective partnership model can be created that will serve as an example for the entire region and strengthen Ukraine’s role in ensuring global food security.

Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
