Ukraine has already sown 2 million hectares of spring grains

As of April 25, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine have sown 2 mln ha of spring grain and pulses crops. In Rivne Oblast, buckwheat sowing has begun.
Currently, the largest sown area is for corn – 705 thsd ha, barley – 702.1 thsd ha, spring wheat – 199.8 thsd ha, peas – 201.8 thsd ha, and oats – 154.2 thsd ha.
Leading regions by sowing pace:
- Poltava Oblast: 251.5 thsd ha (wheat – 4.5 thsd ha, barley – 69.1 thsd ha, peas – 9.6 thsd ha, oats – 3.1 thsd ha, corn – 165.2 thsd ha);
- Kirovohrad Oblast: 146.4 thsd ha (wheat – 3 thsd ha, barley – 35.4 thsd ha, peas – 18.7 thsd ha, oats – 0.5 thsd ha, corn – 84.7 thsd ha);
- Sumy Oblast: 138.1 thsd ha (wheat – 21.5 thsd ha, barley – 18.2 thsd ha, peas – 5.8 thsd ha, oats – 9.8 thsd ha, corn – 81.2 thsd ha);
- Odesa Oblast: 122.5 thsd ha (wheat – 6.5 thsd ha, barley – 35.2 thsd ha, peas – 62 thsd ha, oats – 1.5 thsd ha, corn – 8.4 thsd ha);
- Khmelnytskyi Oblast: 119.9 thsd ha (wheat – 10.9 thsd ha, barley – 74.5 thsd ha, peas – 2.6 thsd ha, oats – 2.5 thsd ha, corn – 24.8 thsd ha).
Technical crops have been sown on an area of 1,763.6 thsd ha. Of which:
- sunflower – 1,236.8 thsd ha;
- sugar beets – 228.5 thsd ha;
- soybeans – 187.6 thsd ha.
It is worth noting that in 2025, it is planned to sow about 5.7 mln ha of spring grain and pulses crops, which corresponds to the level of 2024. The main feature of the new season will be an increase in the area under spring wheat to 227.5 thsd ha. Such changes in the structure of sown areas correspond to the stable demand for wheat from processing enterprises and exporters.
