Ukraine does not plan to sell strategic port silos
Ukraine does not intend to sell strategic port silos that are critical to the country’s food security. This was stated by Ukraine’s Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, Oleksii Sobolev, in an interview with Latifundist.com.
According to him, within the privatization process the state clearly distinguishes between assets that can be transferred to the private sector and facilities of strategic importance for the country’s agricultural and logistics infrastructure.
“The state does not plan to sell strategic assets that are critical to food security, including key port silos. At the same time, I am convinced that the private sector can make the remaining assets more efficient,” Oleksii Sobolev stressed.
The minister noted that privatization in the agricultural sector will continue, but its focus will remain on facilities that do not have systemic importance for export stability, the domestic grain market, or national food security.
At the same time, the government plans to more actively attract private capital to the development of agricultural infrastructure through other mechanisms, including public-private partnerships, industrial parks, and the sale of minority stakes in state-owned companies without relinquishing control over strategic assets.
