Maritime drone exploded in the Romanian port of Constanța – news updated
A drone exploded in the port of Constanța, according to Radio România Constanța.
As the outlet reports, the explosion occurred recently in the port area near Pier 78.
According to preliminary information cited by several sources, a drone was allegedly discovered near the office of the Romanian agency responsible for sea rescue operations (ARSVOM).
No further details are available at this time.
According to Digi24, the object was a maritime drone. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties.
The Ministry of National Defence stated that the drone was of a “type used in the war in Ukraine.” The case is being investigated by the prosecutor’s office.
Updated: The drone turned out to be Ukrainian. The Ukrainian Navy confirmed that a Ukrainian unmanned boat had entered Romania.
This was stated in a message from the Ukrainian Navy in a telegram.
“While performing tasks in the Black Sea operational zone, one of the Ukrainian Navy’s unmanned sea boats, under the influence of enemy electronic warfare, lost control and ended up off the coast of Romania,” the department said.
It is noted that the Navy provided the necessary information to the Romanian Navy to prevent civilian casualties.
