Ukraine and the EU agreed on a plan for the development of logistics on the Danube
Ukraine and the European Commission discussed the current situation in the Danube region and Black Sea ports, as well as ways to overcome the logistical challenges caused by a full-scale war.
This was discussed during a meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development, the European Commission, the USPA, the Izmail Port, Ukrzaliznytsia and the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, the press service of the Ukrainian ministry reports.
The key objective of the meeting was to agree on approaches to coordinating assistance that the European Commission can provide to Ukraine.
The participants examined in detail the state of port infrastructure, route capacity, the consequences of damage and energy constraints, and identified key bottlenecks, including the dredging of the Danube and the modernization of capacities.
The use of EUR 50 million of EU financial support for the restoration of critical infrastructure was analyzed.
The parties agreed to coordinate with the European Commission to ensure transport continuity, develop alternative routes in case of restrictions at Black Sea ports, and potential cooperation with Romania, including traffic planning, the use of PRIMUS, and the preparation of a memorandum of understanding.
