Turkish company to open container line to Chornomorsk port
Turkish container shipping operator Akkon Lines is launching regular flights to the port of Chornomorsk in Odesa region.
This was announced by Danylo Melnychenko, manager of Informall BG, an Odesa-based consulting company.
According to him, the company has been working with the Danube ports of Odesa region since the full-scale invasion.
“Akkon Lines has been running to Izmail and back since the beginning of the war. Its volumes are expected to be significant as customers switch to larger vessels and improve planning,” the manager said.
Mr. Melnichenko also announced the return of one of the world’s leading container shipping companies, Maersk, to Chornomorsk. Small container ships of Odesa-based Iteris will be used to transport Maersk containers.
One of these specialized vessels, the Pros Hope, docked in Chornomorsk for the first time since the beginning of the Great War on April 21 this year.
“In April, Iteris and Maersk were delivering empty containers for exporters and sending full cargo containers to Constanza for transshipment,” Melnychenko recalled.
He also emphasized that containers of many well-known operators such as Arkas, CMA CGM, Evergreen and MSC are currently being transported on board this vessel.
