Turkey to ease ban on wheat imports
Turkey is partially lifting its ban on wheat imports, according to the country’s Ministry of Trade.
Imports will be allowed for flour millers, provided that they buy 85% of the raw material from Turkey’s state agency TMO.
Processors must first exhaust their 85% quota through the TMO before they can import the remaining volume. In addition, importers have the option to obtain 100% of the quota through the TMO.
As a reminder, on June 6, 2024, the Turkish government imposed a ban on wheat imports for the period from June 21, 2024 to October 15, 2024, which may be extended until the end of 2024.
