Turkey’s agricultural sector is expecting a strong grain production season in 2026, supported by favorable weather conditions. Wheat output is projected at around 23 million tons, while barley production is expected to reach approximately 8.7 million tons.

According to industry representatives, consistent rainfall since autumn has created favorable conditions for crop development. April was also highlighted as one of the most significant months in terms of positive weather anomalies over the past 50 years, helping meet crop moisture needs during critical growth stages.

It was also noted that rainfall levels in central Türkiye exceeded seasonal norms in April. This region plays a key role in grain production, accounting for around 37% of wheat cultivation areas and 31% of total wheat output.

Analysts attribute the improved outlook to a combination of stable temperatures and sufficient soil moisture, which has reduced drought risks compared to previous years.

If the forecast is realized, Türkiye is expected to strengthen its position as a key grain producer in the region, supporting both domestic market stability and export potential.
