Turkey allocates new quota for duty-free import of 1 mln tons of corn

On May 1, 2025, the Turkish Ministry of Trade announced a new duty-free import quota of 1 million tons of corn, which will be valid until the end of July. This move is aimed at stabilizing prices before the start of the new harvest and meeting the needs of the domestic market. Earlier, in March, Turkey had already introduced a similar quota for importing 1 million tons of corn for feed production, but this quota with a reduced duty of 5% was completely exhausted by April 29.
These measures reflect the efforts of the Turkish government to ensure a stable supply of corn and avoid price fluctuations in the domestic market. The new duty-free quota is expected to help support the compound feed industry and prevent a shortage of raw materials before the start of the harvest.
