Trump urges China to increase imports of US soybeans
On Monday, US President Donald Trump called on China to significantly increase purchases of US soybeans to reduce the trade deficit between the two countries. In his post on the Truth Social platform, Trump noted that China is concerned about soybean shortages and expressed hope that Beijing would quadruple its orders, taking advantage of the offer of American farmers who produce the “best soybeans.”
This call came on the eve of the end of the US-China trade truce, which expires on Tuesday, raising the risk of higher tariffs. At the same time, Trump is considering imposing tariffs on China over Russian crude crude oil purchases, although the final decision has not yet been made, as Vice President J.D. Vance noted, emphasizing the complexity of relations between Washington and Beijing.
