Trump suspends subsidies for “green” agriculture
US President Donald Trump has announced the freezing of subsidy programs for sustainable farming launched by the previous administration. In 2024, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) received $3.1 billion to support climate adaptation in the agricultural sector, which was allocated for loans, grants, and investments in environmental infrastructure.
In addition to cutting off subsidies, Trump also froze funding for research into the breeding and production of climate-adapted crops. This decision drew criticism from sustainable agriculture advocates who had hoped for continued funding.
